The Riverside Rotters battled the Winchester Mountaineers into extra innings before the outcome was decided. The Rotters won it, finally, 4-3, in 14 innings. In the game, Riverside shortstop Ken Fortin went 3-4 with 3 singles and 2 walks. With the victory, the Rotters upped their record to 77-28.

Batting in the bottom of the 14th, 29-year old catcher Bill Martz had a real shot to win the game. Winchester pitcher Josh Hamilton was determined not to let it happen. But with one out, Martz hit a run-scoring single. The Rotters had a walk-off triumph.

"This kind of game is tough on the heart," said winning manager Hermenegildo Fernando.
