Bears Beat Mountaineers, 3-1
|
In a tight game between the Traverse City Bears and the Winchester Mountaineers, pitcher Jon Gunter was terrific on the mound. The Traverse City right-hander helped his team to the 3-1 win. The winning pitcher was Gunter, now 6-7. He tossed 8 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 6. The 5th-place Bears own a record of 28-78.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Jamie Flowers? The Traverse City first baseman had a 2-run double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Bears on top, 3-0. For the game, Flowers had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said Traverse City skipper Zach Hildebrant.
