Mountaineers Use Late Score to Top Cougars, 2-1
|
In a tension-filled contest between the Winchester Mountaineers and the Rohnert Park Cougars, pitcher Sandy Ibanez was superb. The Winchester right-hander spearheaded his team's 2-1 win. Travis Espinoza earned his 13th save in 15 chances. The Mountaineers have now reeled off 11 straight wins.
Winchester first baseman Ryan Burchett delivered a solo home run in the bottom of the eighth. Overall, he went 3 for 4, picking up 1 home run, 1 single, and 1 double. He scored 1 run and knocked in 1.
"Sandy just went about his business, throwing strikes," said Winchester manager Mitchell Young.
