Erik Ashley, who is tied for 7th in the E-AA in innings pitched with 133.1, pitched well, but the Corpus Christi Mermen still fell short, losing, 4-2, to the Rohnert Park Cougars at Ballpark of Greenup. Rohnert Park pitcher Mike Garcia earned the win, hiking his record to 3-1. Erik Ashley suffered the loss. The Cougars now have a record of 46-58 with the win over Corpus Christi.

Tied up with the Mermen in the bottom of the fourth inning, the Cougars got a boost from center fielder Steve Nalbach. With the bases loaded, Nalbach saw a 1-1 fastball from Erik Ashley and hit a 2-run single to break the stalemate and put Rohnert Park on top, 4-2.

"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Nalbach.
