Rotters Pocket 6-5 Win Against Rohnert Park
|
The Riverside Rotters picked up a win at Rotters Ballpark, topping the Rohnert Park Cougars, 6-5. On the mound for Riverside was left-hander Andy Shoemaker. He played a principal role in the triumph. The win puts the Rotters at 62-42, while the Cougars drop to 48-56.
The Cougars had been locked in a 3-3 tie with the Rotters going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the slick-fielding second baseman Jeremy Woods came to the plate. Woods hit a 2-run double on a 0-2 fastball from Rohnert Park hurler Rod Montalvo. It was Woods's 9th double of the year.
"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Riverside manager Adrian Mercado.
