Winchester Wins, Hall hits 2 home runs
|
Riding the 3-hit performance of the 21-year old center fielder John Hall, the Winchester Mountaineers defeated the Washington Wildthings, 4-2. The winner was Jerome Abney, who threw 91 pitches over 6.1 innings. The right-hander was charged with no runs on 3 hits. Jaheim Johnson recorded the save, his 10th.
Hall made an early impact for Winchester when he stroked his 24th home run of the season. The solo home run, which came in the top of the third, put the Mountaineers on top, 2-0.
"It's going to click," said Washington manager Danny Sanchez. "It's just a matter of when."
Now 23-81, Washington has dropped 10 games in a row.
