Hopkins Powers Razor Sharks to 8-1 Win
|
The 8-1 Mesa win over Mobile was due in large part to Mike Hopkins. The Razor Sharks shortstop went 3-4 with a home run and a double, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Mike Harris, who is tied for 9th in the E-AA with a 2.35 ERA, was the winning pitcher. Over 6.1 innings, he allowed 1 run on 2 hits, with 1 walk and 10 strikeouts. At 68-36, the Razor Sharks find themselves in second place in the Eastern AA Southen Division.
Hopkins had a big hit for Mesa with one out in the top of the fourth. With Mesa leading 1-0, Hopkins hit a grand slam home run. It was his 7th home run of the season and put the Razor Sharks up, 5-0.
Said losing manager Gil Gomez: "The list goes on and on of things we just flat out didn't do."
