The Corpus Christi Mermen took on the Traverse City Bears at Greensboro Grounds.

A good performance from first baseman Jon Pitts helped the Corpus Christi Mermen defeat the Traverse City Bears, 9-5. Pitts went 1-4 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4 for the Mermen. Sean Gary, credited with the win in relief, is now 9-4. He allowed no runs on no hits in 2.2 innings.

Pitts contributed a big hit, a grand slam home run, for Corpus Christi in the top of the fifth. With his team trailing 4-2, Pitts took a slider from C.J. Henson and stroked the home run to left. His 5th home run of the season allowed the Mermen to leap in front, 6-4.

"It felt good to put the barrel on the ball," said Pitts.

The Mermen bumped their record to 51-48 with this latest triumph.
