The Mescalero Chiefs handed the Libertyville Polecats a 5-3 defeat at Chiefs Ballpark. Third Baseman Kevin Schneider starred for Mescalero. He went 3 for 4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2. Vinny Alvarenga notched the win in relief. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 1 hit in 3.1 innings. His record now sits at 5-1. Luis Mora was credited with the save for Mescalero, his 28th of the season.

The Polecats had been locked in a 2-2 tie with the Chiefs going into the bottom of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 28-year old first baseman Mike Daniels came to the plate. Daniels hit a 2-run home run on a 2-1 cutter from Libertyville hurler Conroy Hill. It was Daniels's 16th home run of the year.

"It was a good effort all around," said Daniels.

The victory gives the Chiefs a record of 55-46.
