Libertyville and Traverse City duked it out and the Polecats came out victorious.

Traverse City got a decent performance from pitcher Pedro Benitez, but it wasn't enough to beat the Libertyville Polecats. Libertyville won the Field of the Polecats contest, 3-1. Benitez threw 7.0 innings of 2-hit ball for the losing team. Picking up the save was Oliver Wilbanks. He's now 9 for 11 in save chances.

Libertyville second baseman Mike Schrupp contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the second. With two down, he hit a knuckle curve into right field for a 3-run home run. It was his 8th home run of the season and put the Polecats ahead, 3-1.

"Every loss hurts," said Traverse City manager Ray Johnson. "But this was a tough one."

The Polecats sport a record of 62-36.
