Martz Helps Rotters Defeat Bears, 6-3
|
Eager fans turned out for a matchup between the Riverside Rotters and Traverse City Bears.
No one was more impactful than Bill Martz in the 6-3 Riverside win over Traverse City. Martz was 3 for 4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. Mike Walker notched the win in relief. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 3 hits in 4 innings. His record now sits at 3-1. The save was credited to Howie Freel, his 9th.
Martz had a key at-bat for Riverside in the top of the second. With a runner on 2nd, he hit a 2-run home run. It was his 5th home run of the season and gave Riverside an early 2-0 lead.
"In this profession, you've got to put the good and the bad behind you quickly," Traverse City skipper Zach Hildebrant said.
With the win, Riverside goes to 72-26, while the Bears fall to 50-48.
