Millionaires Trip Eskimo Brothers, 5-3, in Extra Innings
|
The performance of Alex Torres proved critical in helping Alcoa beat Encinitas, 5-3, in 11 innings. The Millionaires designated hitter was 2-3 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Alcoa reliever Danny Williams picked up the win to move to 5-3. Brian Hayden suffered the loss. Jerry Cirulli recorded the save, making him 1 for 1.
Torres had a game-changing home run in the top of the 11th. On a 1-2 fastball from Brian Hayden, he banged a 2-run home run to center, giving the Millionaires a 5-3 lead. It was the 1st home run of the year for Torres.
"There's a warrior mentality with this team," said Millionaires manager Victor Gonzalez.
The Millionaires, at 42-54, sit in 4th place in the Eastern AA Northern Division.
