Loss to Yard Dogs Extends Fresno Losing Streak
|
The Mobile Yard Dogs topped the Fresno Running Rebels, 9-2, in Eastern AA action at Running Rebels Ballpark. The game was highlighted by the performance of Mobile pitcher Willie Bahena. Bahena, now 5-6, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 10, walking 2, and allowing 2 runs. The slumping Running Rebels have lost 7 straight.
Mobile used the hitting of Ernie Johnson to pick up the win. The designated hitter clubbed a 3-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the Yard Dogs on top, 3-0. For the game, Johnson had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
Said losing manager Jayden Edwards: "We need to play with more of an edge."
