Cougars Stagger Wildthings with 14-0 Gut Punch
The Rohnert Park Cougars cruised to a win over the Washington Wildthings, 14-0, at Ballpark of Greenup. Miguel Echavarria led the way, going 2-for-5 for Rohnert Park. Rohnert Park pitcher Vince Zamora earned the win, hiking his record to 1-0. Dan Telford suffered the loss. The last-place Cougars improved to 43-54.

With Rohnert Park leading 10-0 in the bottom of the eighth, Echavarria came up to bat against Washington pitcher Scott Meredith. Echavarria hit a fastball to left-center for a grand slam home run. His 6th home run of the season put the Cougars on top, 14-0.

"They beat us like the proverbial rented mule," said losing manager Danny Sanchez.
