7-6 Win for Mescalero in Extras
The Mescalero Chiefs electrified the home crowd with a walk-off win.

The Chiefs earned a hard-fought, 7-6 win in 12 innings at Chiefs Ballpark. To do so required withstanding a fine effort from Encinitas pitcher Miguel Rodriguez. Rodriguez went 5.1 innings and allowed 1 run. Mescalero reliever Gotam Muthupalaniappan picked up the win, raising his record to 1-0. Brian Underwood was tagged with the loss.

The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the 12th inning, when Mescalero third baseman Justin Jirkovsky, facing Mike Pistorio, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Chiefs the 7-6 win.

"No one can call baseball boring," said Chiefs manager Hunter Santiago. "Not after a game like that."

The win hiked the Mescalero record to 53-45.
