Mountaineers Get Past Libertyville, 2-1
|
The Winchester Mountaineers scored a tight, 2-1 win versus the Libertyville Polecats at Field of the Polecats. Winchester pitcher Eric Alley held his own in the contest. Winchester, at 70-25, holds down first place in the Eastern AA Southen Division.
Had it not been for Mike Fogg, the results might have been different. In the top of the ninth inning, when the Mountaineers were trailing 1-0, Fogg hit a 2-run single for Winchester, giving his team the lead.
"We've got a great group of guys," Fogg said, "and we're having fun right now."
