Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Winchester Mountaineers and Libertyville Polecats.

The Winchester Mountaineers had to overcome a good performance from Libertyville pitcher Brent Stedronsky to claim a 1-0 win at Field of the Polecats. Stedronsky went 6 innings and allowed no runs. Rich Roberts, now 2-1, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.1 innings.

Ryan Burchett, who leads the E-AA in hits with 113, had a direct impact on the outcome. Burchett contributed a run-scoring ground out in the top of the ninth inning to put Winchester up, 1-0.

"I felt good up there," said Burchett. "I saw the ball well."

With the win, Winchester upped its record to 69-24.
