Rebels Dealt 6-3 Home Loss
|
The inspired effort of Jackson left fielder Lance Chmiel was not enough to prevent a loss, 6-3, to the Alcoa Millionaires. Chmiel went 3-5 with 3 singles. He scored 2 runs. Armando Flores was credited with the save for Alcoa, his 1st of the season. Alcoa, with the win, climbs to 32-62.
Mike Smith had a big 2-run double for the Millionaires in the top of the second inning. With Alcoa leading 3-0 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a fastball from 24-year old right-handed pitcher Brent Gudim and swatted a double to right-center. It was his 10th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Millionaires ahead, 5-0.
"I know we have our doubters," said Jackson manager Brian Wenk. "But I still have high hopes for this team."
