Wildthings Win 8-6 Walk-Off
|
The Washington Wildthings reigned over the Traverse City Bears in damp conditions.
The Washington Wildthings defeated the Traverse City Bears, 8-6, at Red Barons Ballpark. Washington left fielder Aaron Coakley had a superb performance. He went 4-5 with a home run and 3 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 4. Washington reliever John Richardson picked up the win, upping his record to 3-5. Sam Powers was saddled with the loss.
The game came to a dramatic end. In the bottom of the ninth, with Washington trailing 6-5, Coakley hit a fastball from Sam Powers for a 3-run home run, giving the Wildthings the walk-off win.
"I'm glad I could get it done when the game was in the balance," Coakley said in his postgame press conference.
The Wildthings go to 23-71 with the win.
