Wildthings Clip Yard Dogs in Tight Contest, 3-1

The rain came, as predicted, but the Washington Wildthings and Mobile Yard Dogs were able to complete their ballgame.
Mobile got a valiant performance from pitcher Josh McPherson, but it wasn't enough to beat the Washington Wildthings. Washington won the game, 3-1. McPherson threw 8.0 innings of 6-hit ball for the losing team. Washington reliever Jim Unknown picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Josh McPherson was saddled with the loss. Edwin Coney recorded his 16th save for Washington.
Jim Unknown came through with a big-time hit for Washington. The shortstop smacked a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to give his team the lead, 3-1. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"It's nice to step up when your team needs you," said Unknown.
The triumph makes Washington 31-62.
