Tight Tilt Goes to Wildthings, 2-1
|
The Traverse City Bears wasted an impressive 5.1-inning effort from starter Justin Knittle, falling, 2-1, to the Washington Wildthings at Red Barons Ballpark. The win belonged to Caleb Mangum in relief. His record improves to 3-1. Justin Knittle took the loss for Traverse City. Scott Meredith finished to wrap up his 2nd save.
Mike Chamberlin drew 2 walks for Washington. The 25-year old catcher had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With no one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring walk off Justin Knittle. It was his 24th walk of the season.
"Whenever we hold the other team to one run," said Wildthings manager Danny Sanchez, "I like our chances."
With the win, the Washington record is 22-71.
