Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Rohnert Park Cougars and Encinitas Eskimo Brothers.
Mike Gohlke made an impact in the 4-2 Rohnert Park win over Encinitas. Gohlke, who is tied for 4th in the E-AA in doubles with 22, was 2 for 4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. The Cougars now have a record of 42-53.
With Rohnert Park leading 1-0 in the top of the third, Gohlke came up to bat against Encinitas pitcher Rodrigo Izquierdo. Gohlke hit a fastball to left for a 3-run home run. His 24th home run of the season put the Cougars on top, 4-0.
After the game, Rohnert Park manager Ramiro Mendiola applauded the team's effort. "They busted their tails out there," he said.
