Eskimo Brothers Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Bears, 3-2
|
The Encinitas Eskimo Brothers, despite a fine performance by Traverse City pitcher Sean Finch, grabbed a 3-2 win at Greensboro Grounds. Finch allowed 1 run over 6 innings. The win was credited to 26-year old right-handed pitcher Hunter Saakadze in relief. His record improves to 3-0. Kevin Gibbons took the loss. Danny Wagner earned the save, his 16th in 16 tries.
Encinitas used a timely hit from Angelo Diaz to get the win. The left fielder stroked a 2-run double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Eskimo Brothers ahead, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it made an impact.
Diaz attributed the win to "energy and focus on the part of everyone."
Encinitas is sailing along at 62-29.
