Bears Handled by Washington, 7-1
|
Washington Wildthings starter Josh Holmes kept the Traverse City Bears hitters in check, leading his team to a comfortable 7-1 win. The Wildthings go to 29-61 with the win.
Will Mangus had a big grand slam home run for the Wildthings in the bottom of the first inning. With Washington trailing 1-0 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from 22-year old left-handed pitcher Jeremy Schroeter and swatted a home run to left-center. It was his 9th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Wildthings ahead, 4-1.
"Josh had good stuff. When he did get into a compromising count, he made the most of it," said Washington manager Bob Platter.
