Riverside Sent Home with 5-2 Loss
|
The Aurora Suns grabbed a win, 5-2, over the Riverside Rotters at Suns Field. Aurora designated hitter Jody Jackson was 2 for 3 with 2 singles and a walk. Josh Edwards, now 5-2, picked up the win in relief. He allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 3 innings. Aurora's record now stands at 56-33, placing them second in the Eastern AA Southen Division.
The Rotters had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Suns going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 29-year old right fielder Roberto Perez came to the plate. Perez hit a 2-run double on a full count fastball from Riverside hurler Ryan Butler. It was Perez's 14th double of the year.
Aurora manager Arturo Colon was pleased with the team's effort. "It was just a good, gutsy performance by everybody," he said.
