Terry Excels, But Chiefs Win
Eager fans turned out for a matchup between the Mescalero Chiefs and Riverside Rotters.

Despite a great performance by Riverside catcher Chris Terry, the Mescalero Chiefs defeated the Rotters by the score of 11-4 at Rotters Ballpark. Terry went 3-3 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 and driving in 3. The winning pitcher was Manny Velez. He's now 8-5. He went 5 innings, allowing 3 runs on 4 hits for the Chiefs.

In the top of the fifth, Mescalero shortstop Jose Avelar had a productive at-bat. With the bases loaded and no one out, Avelar stroked a 2-run single to right. It made the score 7-3, Mescalero. For the game, he went 2-5 with 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.

"It was a solid team effort," said Avelar after the game.

Mescalero now sits at 47-40, while Riverside falls to 51-36.
