Millionaires Capture Close Win
|
Jody Stack did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Washington Wildthings from being beaten, 9-8, to the Alcoa Millionaires at Alcoa Grounds. Stack belted 2 home runs, while adding 6 RBI and scoring twice. Justin Andersen snagged the win in relief. He goes to 5-3 on the season. Jim Unknown suffered the loss. The 4th-place Millionaires go to 36-48.
The climactic moment came in the bottom of the ninth for Alcoa. That's when 21-year old first baseman Corey Routh hit a 2-run home run off Jim Unknown to win the game. The home crowd erupted in celebration.
"It's what good teams do, find a way to win," said Routh.
