Cougars Suffer One-Run Loss at Mesa
The Mesa Razor Sharks did just enough to sneak past the Rohnert Park Cougars, 4-3, at Razor Sharks Ballpark. Mesa left fielder Ryan Patterson, in particular, had a standout performance. Mesa pitcher Eric Zane got the win. He's now 5-4. Gabe Sprung was tagged with the loss. After today's action, Mesa sits at 41-43; Rohnert Park slips to 38-46.

Patterson had a timely hit for Mesa in the bottom of the seventh. With Mesa trailing 2-1, he turned a 2-2 fastball into a 3-run home run. It was his 4th home run of the season, making it 4-2, Mesa.

Patterson called the win a testament to his team's "grit."
