In a low-scoring affair between the Winchester Mountaineers and the Traverse City Bears, pitcher Marty Capone was the difference between victory and defeat. The Winchester left-hander earned accolades for his stellar performance in the 1-0 Mountaineers win. Winchester leads the Eastern AA Southen Division by 14½ games.

Capone was the winner. He's now 6-3, after putting the Traverse City offense in a vise grip. Over 8 innings, he gave up no runs on 4 hits, while racking up 9 Ks.

"Marty had good arm action, good stuff," said Winchester manager Mitchell Young.
