The Daytona Beach Sea Turtles went down to defeat to Steve Cates and his Carolina teammates. The final score was 4-1, in favor of the Reapers. Jake Schmitt earned save number 6 this season. Carolina sits at 8-17.

Bobby Shrader had a big solo home run for the Reapers in the top of the fifth inning. With Carolina leading 1-0 and the bases empty, he sized up a changeup from 26-year old left-handed pitcher Joe Miller and punished it. The result was his 1st home run of the season, which put the Reapers on top, 2-0.

Cates expressed little emotion after the game. "Every game we win now," he said, "is one less win we'll need to get in the end."
