Razor Sharks Win Squeaker, 3-2, Over Mermen
|
In a low-scoring contest between the Mesa Razor Sharks and the Corpus Christi Mermen, John Sherline was the X factor. The Mesa left-hander spearheaded the 3-2 win. Victor Benavidez earned his 15th save in 18 chances. The Razor Sharks now have a mark of 38-42.
The game was at a stalemate until first baseman Jonathan Hinkey came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Corpus Christi pitcher Justin Gravely, he hit a first pitch cutter for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Mesa on top, 3-2.
"It's nice to step up when your team needs you," said Hinkey.
