Mesa pitcher John Sherline did his part in helping his team defeat the Riverside Rotters, 4-2. The opposition could never get too much going against the left-hander. Victor Benavidez notched his 13th save in 16 chances. Mesa is in 4th place in the Eastern AA Southen Division with a record of 36-39.

Mesa took a 3-1 lead on Sam English's 15th double of the season. The 2-run double, which English hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Riverside pitcher Pete Mead visibly frustrated.

After the game, Mesa manager Danny Schexnayder applauded the team's effort. "They busted their humps out there," he said.
