The Syracuse Scorpions besoiled an otherwise fine performance by Chicago shortstop Jason Bear by beating the Gangsters, 11-4, at The Hideout. Bear was 4-5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Jason Cox earned the win for Syracuse. He lasted 5.1 innings, allowing 1 run on 7 hits, while striking out 7. With the win, he raised his record to 2-2. The Gangsters, now 9-16 this season, have struggled to play .500 ball.

Syracuse used the hitting of Ryan Mallory to pick up the win. The catcher clubbed a 3-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Scorpions on top, 8-1. For the game, Mallory had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.

"We swung the bats good throughout the lineup," said Syracuse skipper Josh Gifford.
