San Francisco Loss Tarnishes Griffitt Performance
|
The home crowd had a good time watching the San Francisco Fire and Charleston Shiners get after it.
The Charleston Shiners withstood an impressive performance by San Francisco first baseman Ryan Griffitt to defeat the Fire, 12-6, at Ballpark of Charleston. Griffitt went 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 3 times and driving in 3. The winning pitcher was Alfredo Garza. His record now stands at 1-0. The right-hander went 6 innings, allowing 4 runs on 6 hits for the Shiners.
Danny Lebron, who finished 4th in the NC in doubles with 37 in 2019, took San Francisco hurler Taylor Motyl deep in the bottom of the fifth. His grand slam home run put the Shiners on top, 6-4. In all, Lebron had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 5.
"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said Charleston manager Chad Hart.
San Francisco falls to 1-2.
