Kretsch Hits 2 home runs in Mountaineers Win
|
Winchester second baseman Brad Kretsch was a significant contributor in his team's 8-6 triumph over the Encinitas Eskimo Brothers. He was 2 for 3 with 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice for the Mountaineers. Scott Sauer got credit for the win, improving to 3-0. He allowed 3 runs on 3 hits in 3.1 innings. Winchester is 53-19 and Encinitas, with the loss, 50-22.
With Winchester trailing 3-2 in the bottom of the fourth, Kretsch hit a knuckle curve from Mark Moore for a 3-run home run. It was his 9th home run of the season and put the Mountaineers ahead, 5-3.
"Our approach was just to try to see something over the plate and be aggressive," Kretsch told the Winchester Gazette.
