Boise Dread Kings pitcher Xavier Cooper was in top form, leading his team past the Corpus Christi Mermen, 1-0. Cooper, now 2-0, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 7, walking 1, and allowing no runs. Cody Knipple nailed down his 2nd save.

The Dread Kings got a big boost from second baseman Joe Cross who had a run-scoring ground out in the bottom of the first inning off Mermen hurler Erik Ashley. It was his 28th RBI of the season and put Boise on top, 1-0.

Cross said the team appreciates the support from the fans. "I'm glad we could reward them with a good win," he said after the game.

The loss makes Corpus Christi 33-39.
