The Mescalero Chiefs could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Brad Scioli into a win. Instead, the Mesa Razor Sharks prevailed, 2-1, in 10 innings. Scioli threw 8.0 innings of shutout ball. Mesa pitcher David Cooper got the win. He's now 1-0. Luis Mora was tagged with the loss. With this game in the books, Mesa is 31-41, Mescalero 37-35.
The Razor Sharks got a clutch hit from center fielder Sam English. In the bottom of the tenth, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Razor Sharks.
"It was just a matter of executing," said Mesa manager Danny Schexnayder.
