Chaloux, Rotters Too Much for Wildthings
|
Getting a good performance from first baseman Mike Chaloux, the Riverside Rotters defeated the Washington Wildthings, 7-4. Chaloux was 2 for 4 with 2 home runs and a walk. He scored 3 runs and drove in 4 for the Rotters. Antonio Mendoza was the winner. He's now 7-2. The loser was 24-year old left-handed pitcher Alex Herrera. Dennis Cambridge, who is tied for 10th in the E-AA in saves with 3, earned the save for Riverside.
Riverside right fielder Bob Ontiveros delivered a run-scoring double in the top of the seventh. Overall, he went 3 for 5, including 1 home run, 1 single, and 1 double. He scored 1 run and batted in 2.
"It's always nice to be on the winning side," Chaloux told the Riverside Bulletin. "But we take nothing for granted."
The Eastern AA Northern Division-leading Rotters have a record of 49-21.
