Pitcher Justin Knittle was sensational for the Traverse City Bears in his team's 2-1 triumph over the Mesa Razor Sharks. Knittle earned the win. The winning pitcher was Knittle, now 1-0. He tossed 5 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 4 and fanning 5. Andrew Tanner notched his 1st save in 1 chances.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Bears had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the fifth, when second baseman Ted Hendrix hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Goffredo Festa and made the score 2-0, Bears. Hendrix went 2 for 4 with 2 singles.
Said Mesa manager Danny Schexnayder: "You just have to tip your cap sometimes."
The Bears go to 23-48 with the win.
