Mountaineers Drop Eskimo Brothers, 7-6
The Winchester Mountaineers downed the Encinitas Eskimo Brothers, 7-6, at EBDBBNB Park. The Mountaineers were led by George Kinder. Kinder went 4-5 with a home run, 3 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2. The win was credited to 23-year old right-handed pitcher Steve Gryder in relief. His record improves to 3-2. Danny Wagner took the loss. Jake Simmons earned the save for Winchester, his 3rd.

Winchester relied on the hitting of Jason Lewis to pick up the win. The third baseman ripped a run-scoring single in the top of the 12th inning to put the Mountaineers on top, 7-6. For the game, Lewis had 1 triple and 2 singles in 5 at-bats.

"It was a test of wills," said Mitchell Young, the Winchester skipper. "I'm glad we came out of it with a win."

Winchester, at 47-20, holds down first place in the Eastern AA Southen Division.
