Winchester Absorbs 5-2 Loss to Aurora
|
Aurora beat Winchester on the strength of starting pitcher Gerardo Cruz's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a win, 5-2. Cruz got the win, improving to 8-0. He gave up 4 hits and walked 1 over 7 innings. He allowed no runs. The Suns go to 41-21, putting them second in the Eastern AA Southen Division.
Javy Sanchez had a big run-scoring double for the Suns in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Aurora leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a sinker from Ryan Warren, who is tied for 8th in the E-AA in innings pitched with 76.0, and swatted a double to left. It was his 3rd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Suns ahead, 2-0.
"Gerardo showed what he's made of," said Aurora manager Arturo Colon.
