Rohnert Park Beats Encinitas, 6-4
|
The Rohnert Park Cougars besoiled an otherwise fine performance by Encinitas left fielder Angelo Diaz by beating the Eskimo Brothers, 6-4, at Ballpark of Greenup. Diaz was 1-2 with a home run and 2 walks. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Alex Toro earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. He upped his record to 2-0. The save was credited to Chris Hinojosa, his 4th.
The Cougars beat the Eskimo Brothers in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out single Jonathan Raley produced in the bottom of the seventh. Batting against Joel Daniels, Raley gave his team the lead, 5-3, when he hit a 2-run single.
Raley told the media after that game that the mood in the clubhouse is "extremely positive" after a win like that.
With the victory, the Cougars record stands at 28-33.
