Fire Sunk by Caribou
|
The Vancouver Caribou defeated the San Francisco Fire, 6-3, in part because of right fielder Mark Riley. Riley was 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2 for the Caribou. Tom Thompson snagged the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit over 3 innings. He's now 3-1 on the season. Jeff Cox earned the save for Vancouver, his 11th of the year.
Shortstop Mark Adams made an impact for Vancouver, when he swatted a run-scoring double off Kyle Griffin in the bottom of the second. For the contest, Adams went 2 for 4 with a double, while adding 2 RBI.
Vancouver manager Pete Clark commended his team for "banging out a nice win."
Vancouver is now 13-11.
