Fans witnessed a whale of a game between the Riverside Rotters and Libertyville Polecats.
The Riverside Rotters earned a close win over the Libertyville Polecats, thanks in part to Pete Mead. The Riverside right-hander, who is tied for 3rd in the E-AA in complete games with 1, played a key role in the 3-2 victory. Mead yielded 2 runs over 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 3, and struck out 7. His record improves to 7-1. Picking up the save was 22-year old left-handed pitcher Ben Foster.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Rotters had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the fourth, when third baseman Kyle Macrina hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Danny Villa and made the score 2-1, Rotters. Macrina went 1-3 with a walk.
"We're in a little bit of a dry spell," said Libertyville manager Armando Cerda.
At 37-21, the Rotters claim second place in the Eastern AA Northern Division.
