Mesa wasted an exceptional performance by pitcher Cesar Aguirre, falling to the Aurora Suns, 4-2. Aguirre threw 7.0 innings of 3-hit ball for the losing team. The win belonged to Mark Garrett in relief. His record improves to 1-2. Rob Viviano took the loss for Mesa. Ken Staggs got credit for the save for Aurora. It was his 12th of the year.
Aurora took a 4-2 lead on Danny Sanchez's 9th home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which Sanchez hit in the top of the eighth, left Mesa pitcher Rob Viviano visibly frustrated.
Sanchez attributed the win to "everyone pulling their weight."
The Suns now own a record of 26-32.
