A good performance from catcher Ben Everly helped the Winchester Mountaineers defeat the Boise Dread Kings, 8-3. Everly went 2 for 5 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4 for the Mountaineers. Winchester reliever Steve Gryder was the winner. His record is now 3-0. The losing pitcher was Robert Velasquez. The Mountaineers improved to a lofty 45-11.

Everly contributed a big hit, a grand slam home run, for Winchester in the top of the ninth. With his team trailing 3-2, Everly took a fastball from Robert Velasquez and stroked the home run to left-center. His 16th home run of the season allowed the Mountaineers to leap in front, 6-3.

"It was a good night for them and a bad night for us," said Boise manager Sean Drummond.
