Both teams had their chances, but the Encinitas Eskimo Brothers eventually prevailed.

Corpus Christi got a valiant performance from pitcher Edgar Minero, but it wasn't enough to beat the Encinitas Eskimo Brothers. Encinitas won the game, 3-2. Minero threw 7.2 innings of shutout ball for the losing team. Justin Watson picked up the win with 8 innings of work. He allowed 2 runs on 6 hits, while walking 3 and striking out 4. On the season, he is now 7-3.

The Eskimo Brothers beat the Mermen in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out single Danny Lucena produced in the top of the ninth. Batting against Josh Maughan, Lucena gave his team the lead, 3-2, when he hit a run-scoring single.

"Against this team here, fangs out late in the game, it's nice to beat them," said Encinitas skipper Logan Greening.

The Eskimo Brothers have an impressive 38-16 record.
