Rohnert Park had no answer for Corpus Christi Mermen hurler Josh Edwards, who overwhelmed Cougars hitters as the Mermen coasted to victory, 7-1. The winning pitcher was Edwards, now 3-3. He tossed 6.2 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 6. Justin Pratt earned the save for Corpus Christi, his 1st.

The Cougars had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Mermen going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 26-year old catcher Noah Wilcox came to the plate. Wilcox hit a solo home run on a 2-2 splitter from Rohnert Park hurler Willie Krell. It was Wilcox's 3rd home run of the year.

Said losing manager Michael Kelleher: "The at-bats, obviously, needed to be better."

Corpus Christi is now 28-24, Rohnert Park 26-26.
