3-2 Loss Extends Fresno Skid
In a low-scoring affair between the Winchester Mountaineers and the Fresno Running Rebels, pitcher Jerome Abney was the difference between victory and defeat. The Winchester right-hander earned accolades for his stellar performance in the 3-2 Mountaineers win. Dusty Nelson earned his 17th save, after closing out the game. The Mountaineers have now reeled off 14 straight wins.

Jimmy Masel had a big solo home run for the Mountaineers in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Winchester leading 2-0 and the bases empty, he got a cutter from 27-year old right-handed pitcher Sam Godsey and swatted a home run to center. It was his 4th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Mountaineers ahead, 3-0.

"Our guys are never satisfied," said Winchester manager Mitchell Young.
