Estrada Stars for Polecats in 6-1 Win
|
The first-place Libertyville Polecats picked up another win.
Alfonso Estrada helped his team muscle past the Washington Wildthings, 6-1. In the game, the Libertyville center fielder went 1 for 2 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 4. Timothee Laziosi, who is tied for 7th in the E-AA with a 2.35 ERA, was the winning pitcher. Over 6 innings, he allowed no runs on 2 hits, with 1 walk and 4 strikeouts. Harley Towle nailed down his 2nd save.
With Libertyville leading 2-0 in the bottom of the second, Estrada hit a splitter from Jim Unknown for a grand slam home run. It was his 4th home run of the season and put the Polecats ahead, 6-0.
"I know everybody in here is putting in the work," said Washington manager Bob Platter. "It's just not paying off."
Now 14-37, Washington has dropped 10 straight.
