The Traverse City Bears extended their losing streak with a defeat by the Aurora Suns.
Led by Jose Avelar, the Aurora Suns downed the Traverse City Bears, 8-1. Avelar hit 2 home runs, while adding 6 RBI and scoring twice for the Suns. Gil Backos got the win, improving to 5-2. He pitched 8 innings, giving up 3 hits and 1 run, while striking out 6 and walking 1.
In the bottom of the third, Avelar had a 3-run home run for Aurora. It was his 13th home run of the season and put the Suns on top, 3-0.
Afterward, Traverse City manager Zach Hildebrant said: "We were guessing wrong on pitches, and that's something we've got to get away from."
The slumping Bears have dropped 8 in a row.
