San Diego Beats San Francisco, 7-4
|
The San Diego Fleet beat the San Francisco Fire, 7-4. San Diego pitcher and Warwick, Rhode Island, native B.J. Gonzalez led the way. The Fire fall to 8-15 and continue their unimpressive start to the 2026 season.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Alfonso Sanchez? The San Diego shortstop had a 2-run double in the top of the fourth inning to put the Fleet on top, 4-3. For the game, Sanchez had 1 double and 1 single in 3 at-bats.
Sanchez said, "Whether you hit the ball hard, you walk, you have a long at-bat, 10 or 12 pitches, or you hit a homer, you're just trying to do anything you can do to help the team win."
