Pitching was the name of the game in a tight contest between the Encinitas Eskimo Brothers and the Aurora Suns. Encinitas won it, 3-0. Encinitas starter Jim Mendoza was in command. Mendoza, now 5-0, was the winner. In 5.2 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 7, walking 2, and allowing no runs. The second-place Eskimo Brothers improved to 31-16.

Ben Cassese had a critical at-bat with two out in the bottom of the seventh for Encinitas. He came through with a run-scoring single to put Encinitas in front, 2-0.

"It was just a matter of executing," said Encinitas manager John McKearney.
