Chiefs Grind Out 2-1 Win
|
Chiefs Ballpark featured a tense pitchers' duel.
Behind an impressive start by Jason Stoute, Mescalero beat Washington, 2-1. Stoute yielded 1 run over 7.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 2, and struck out 5. His record improves to 6-2. Josh Lienhard picked up the save, his 3rd.
Travis Letner took Washington hurler Roberto Melendez deep in the bottom of the fourth. His 2-run home run put the Chiefs on top, 2-1. In all, Letner had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Letner told the Mescalero Observer.
The win puts Mescalero at 27-18 this season.
