Ryan Simpson brought his A-game to help Winchester defeat the Traverse City Bears, 4-1. The winner was Simpson. He threw 5.0 innings of 2-hit ball. The loser was Ahmed Harris. Dusty Nelson earned save number 11 this season.

The Mountaineers got a big at-bat from third baseman Josh Laster. For the game, Laster went 1-4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the fifth, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 6th home run of the season gave Winchester a 3-1 lead.

"I felt good up there," said Laster. "I saw the ball well."

Winchester has an impressive 35-9 record.
