"Sanders was a tough out," Washington manager Danny Sanchez said to the press in the postgame interview. "He hit some very good pitches with that quick bat of his. Not an easy out, that's for sure."

Brian Sanders singled in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Nate Roberson in the 2nd, struck out in the 3rd, singled in the 6th, hit a three-run home run off Ray Clark in the 8th and hit a three-run double in the 8th.
