Polecats Squeeze By Aurora, 1-0
|
Joel Atkinson, despite pitching well, was dismayed with the outcome: a hard-fought, 1-0 Aurora Suns defeat at the hands of the Libertyville Polecats at Field of the Polecats. Libertyville reliever Eric Volmar picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Joel Atkinson was saddled with the loss. The Polecats raised their record to 18-26.
Libertyville took a 1-0 lead on Matt Schmid's 4th home run of the season. The solo home run, which Schmid hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Aurora pitcher Joel Atkinson visibly frustrated.
Libertyville manager Justin Thiede praised his team's "no BS approach."
